Epic Fail

I have two exams next week, Democracy and Criminology. And I can't be bothered studying for either of them.
I think because of all the pressure and work of Year 12, you don't realise that you're still going to have to do exams when you get to uni. You think "Year 12 is over, no more exams EVER!" And to be perfectly honest, I think a lot of us are still exhausted and worked out from Year 12 and therefore can't be bothered studying for our exams. As the saying goes around Melbourne Uni: "Ps get degrees".

So Democracy is going to be awful, because they've structured the exam quite awkwardly and it's actually hard to know what to study - if one can be bothered studying. Plus, practically everyone fell asleep in Democracy as the lecturers were incredibly boring. I actually had to draw stuff on my notes to make sure I stayed awake. Democracy is on Tuesday. It will be an epic fail, much like Marketing was on the Monday that just went by. Criminology, which is on Friday, I think will be a little bit better for three reasons - 1. There isn't as much content to study 2. It's clearly structured, unlike Democracy & 3. Basically in Crim tutes, I was the only one who spoke, so I am pretty well informed on crimes and the criminological theory relating to them. It won't be a great exam, but it'll most definitely be better than Democracy.

So I'm procrastinating studying for Democracy even though today I was meant to do a massive study thing for it. I've been distracted by Facebook, Twitter, eBay and Tetris. And I won't be studying much longer for it because I have to go coach netball tonight. Friday night training with a bunch of hypo under 13s. Fun fun.

Also, I'm seeing my family friend's amateur theatre performance tomorrow night. They're doing Oklahoma, which I don't know anything about, but based on the past performances, it should be good. The best one she has done has definitely been The Full Monty, which was last year. Absolutely hilarious and brilliant.

Now to go hang out the washing - another distraction from studying!!

Currently listening to If You're Gone by Matchbox Twenty.

Obession

At this point in time, I am absolutely OBSESSED with Gavin Mikhail's music. I go through phases where I just listen to someone's music over and over again. Right now, Gavin Mikhail. Before him, John Mayer. Before him...I think it was Mandy Moore's album Wild Hope - which is pretty damn awesome.

So obsessing over Gavin's music. I recently downloaded the video for his song Brave (and my stupid-ass iPod won't let me put it on - v.annoying), but this video is totally amazing. Well not the video that much, but the song. Because the version on his album is very upbeat and of a fast tempo. This version is much slower and the piano is the only instrument played and because it's slower, I think there's more meaning, soul and passion behind what he is saying. I'm listening to it right now...so GOOD.

Other things I'm obsessed with at the moment:
  • Tetris - it's the 25th anniversary of Tetris this year!!
  • Pokemon Silver (for Gameboy Colour). I brought it off eBay recently and haven't been able to stop playing.
  • Chocolate eclairs - my mum buys sugar free chocolate eclairs which I steal from her. They taste just as good as the real ones.
  • The Tudors - awesome TV show. Watching the first season for the fourth time.

Birthdays

It's one of my best friend's birthday today. She's turning 19, but she looks the youngest out of all my friends. She could pass for 16. And the fact that she's turning 19 makes her depressed. She thinks that she's OLD.

It reminds me of this John Mayer song called Stop This Train. It goes "
So scared of getting older, I'm only good at being young". And this is so true of my friend. She doesn't want to grow up. We started uni this year (we're at different universities) and I'm still correcting her essays. Nothing has changed with her.

But anyway things have changed with me. I have a Marketing exam tomorrow which I am going to fail and I really don't care because I hate Marketing. The old me would be studying my butt off, even though I hate the subject. The new me doesn't care. I need to do really well on this exam so I can transfer courses at the end of the year, but I don't think its going to happen due to me being incredibly slack. Which is a definite change in my attitude from the last 4 years.
